BWYQ Teaching Diploma and Certificate

Next course starting in 2021 - please contact to register your interest.

The course will be on Saturdays once per month.  There will be a residential weekend which is held locally and an important part of the course during the certificate and again for the follow on for the diploma

Students will be assessed on both practical and theory:-

  • anatomy and physiology and how this is applicable to the teaching of asana

  • asana - including observation, adjustment and protection of vulnerable areas of the body

  • yoga breathing practices and relaxation

  • planning for teaching and the responsibilities of a yoga teacher

  • planning and delivery of a yoga course

A foundational knowledge of the history and philosophy of yoga are taught on the Certificate Course but are not assessed. We will cover some of the yoga philosophy concepts within the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Upanishads briefly.

There is an online anatomy assessment which will be required (for those who do not already have an minimum level 3 qualification in Anatomy and Physiology).  You will also be required to hold an up to date First Aid certificate once you are teaching classes.  This can be arranged in house if numbers are sufficient.

The Diploma is an additional three modules and covers the following in more depth (and is assessed)

  • Pranayama

  • Meditation

  • Philosophy

  • Subtle body (chakra, mudras, bandhas etc)

  • Asana

Both parts require a commitment to yoga and developing as a teacher.  The course will provide depth to your practice and skills as a teacher of yoga.
