British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) Teaching Certificate
The course will be on Saturdays once per month. There will be a residential weekend which is held locally and an important part of the course.
Students will be assessed on both practical and theory:-
anatomy and physiology and how this is applicable to the teaching of asana
asana - including observation, adjustment and protection of vulnerable areas of the body
yoga breathing practices and relaxation
planning for teaching and the responsibilities of a yoga teacher
planning and delivery of a yoga course
A foundational knowledge of the history and philosophy of yoga are taught on the Certificate Course but are not assessed. We will cover some of the yoga philosophy concepts within the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Upanishads.
There is an online anatomy assessment which will be required (for those who do not already have an minimum level 3 qualification in Anatomy and Physiology). You will also be required to hold an up to date First Aid certificate once you are teaching classes. This can be arranged in house if numbers are sufficient.
Students who complete the Certificate Course will have the opportunity, should they so wish, to complete the final three Units of study and upgrade their qualification to the Diploma.

Introductory day Saturday 29 September 2018 10 am - 4 pm in Grantham
The BWY Teaching Certificate course is an 18 month course open to yoga students with a minimum of 2 years class attendance and comprises of the first 5 units of the Diploma course.
This day will provide an opportunity for you to find out more about the course and whether you would like to become a BWY Teacher. You will need to bring your usual yoga kit as there will be an asana session, writing materials and a packed lunch (although there is a shop down the road where you can buy sandwiches if you forget).
