Greek House
£300 per week - £500 for two weeks

My Greek property is available to rent from 2007. It is a traditional Greek house in a lovely area of the mainland offering spectacular views, quiet beaches, clear blue sea and a complete antidote to the hurly burly of modern life.

The house is on the Peloponnese penisular in the village of Sapounakeika, which lies on the side of a beautiful mountain. The house has breathtaking views of the mountains, the Agean sea and the small resort of Paralia Tyros (Tyrou) a short walk away down by the sea (see map below which only shows Paralia). The house is a 15 minute walk downhill to the beach, which is pebbles and soft shingle and offers safe swimming in clear blue waters with many colourful fish for company. The sea front has numerous tavernas, with some offering seating on the beach just yards from the sea. A delightful and inexpensive evening can be had dining out with the sounds of the waves lapping at the shore. Even at the height of summer, the resort is not crowded and is mainly used by Greek holiday-makers. Back up at the village, you feel as if you are immersed in real Greece, with donkeys passing by regularly, carrying loads of sticks, and peace and solitude guaranteed. Just around the corner from Paralia Tyrou is the quiet picture postcard Tigani beach, which you can walk or drive to. This offers safe swimming, very good snorkeling and sun beds and canoes/pedalos for hire. A further excursion by car is to Leonidio and the nearby resort of Plaka, which has another excellent beach and good tavernas.

My house is reached by flying to Athens. It is then a three and a half hour drive to Sapounakeika. The house can comfortably accommodate four people as there is a double bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge. I will be running yoga holidays at the house in the future, with guests staying in rooms down on the seafront. As you can see, the area is hilly, so is not suitable for small children under the age of 7 or those who find steep slopes and steps a problem.
